This month, NEDAP led community financial literacy and justice trainings in Hawaii and New Mexico. Deyanira Del Rio facilitated a workshop on justice-based approaches to homeowner education at the 2007 Convention of the National Coalition for Asian and Pacific American Community Development (CAPACD) and the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement, in Honolulu.
Dey then joined Rebeca Gamez in Las Cruces, New Mexico, to train Colonias Development Council (CDC) in NEDAP's Financial Literacy and Justice curriculum. CDC will teach the curriculum to residents of the colonias, communities along the U.S.-Mexico border, using a promotoras peer education model, and as a springboard for local economic justice organizing.
