It's not too late to register for the February 8th forum, Promoting Financial Justice for Immigrant New Yorkers. Hear how grassroots groups are organizing and devising creative strategies to promote immigrants' economic rights and financial services access. The forum, for community groups, advocates and funders, is presented by NEDAP and the NYC Immigrant Financial Justice Network. Registration is required.
Consumer Financial Rights Material Now Available on NEDAP Website!
NEDAP's website now offers a host of resources on consumer credit and debt issues, for consumers, community groups, and advocates. The site provides information on frequently asked questions regarding consumer rights, including how to resolve common problems. Topics include:

- Debt Collection
- Defending Creditor Lawsuits

Low income New Yorkers who have experienced abusive or discriminatory practices in the banking and credit arenas may also call NEDAP's NYC Financial Justice Hotline. The hotline provides
legal advice, self-help material, and referrals to individuals and community groups.
NEDAP Receives Major Grants to Combat Predatory Lending
The Ford Foundation recently awarded a major grant to NEDAP in support of our anti-predatory lending activities. The grant supports NEDAP's efforts, in collaboration with South Brooklyn Legal Services, to fight predatory lending in New York through a combination of community outreach, coalition advocacy, and direct legal services. In addition, NEDAP received renewed funding from HUD's Fair Housing Initiatives Program for our continued education and outreach in all five boroughs of NYC. Groups can contact NEDAP to schedule a training and find resources online.
NEDAP Director Appointed to Federal Reserve Consumer Advisory Council
NEDAP co-director Sarah Ludwig was recently selected to serve on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors' Consumer Advisory Council. The Consumer Advisory Council advises the Board and represents the interests of consumers and communities.
