Register for NEDAP's Community Reinvestment Workshop Series

Register online for NEDAP's 9th Annual Community Reinvestment Workshop Series, which begins on March 21 with "Emerging Issues in Predatory Home Sales & Mortgage Lending." The Workshop Series addresses critical community reinvestment issues affecting low income neighborhoods and communities of color in NYC, and is open to community groups and advocates only.  Registration is required.

 

NEDAP Issues Report on Tax Refund Loans

On March 1, NEDAP released "Rapid Rip-Offs: Tax Refund Anticipation Lending in New York City," an examination of how usurious tax refund loans affect New Yorkers and NYC neighborhoods.  Download the report, which the NY Post calls "explosive," from our website!

 

Materials Now available from Immigrant Financial Justice Forum

On February 8, NEDAP and the NYC Immigrant Financial Justice Network presented a half-day forum, "Promoting Financial Justice for Immigrant New Yorkers," attended by more than 100 people.  The forum highlighted ways community groups are organizing to combat abusive practices and pressing for accountability by banks, money transmitters and others.  Download materials, maps, fact sheets, and survey results from the website.

 

NEDAP Welcomes New Staff!

Meet NEDAP's new staff members, Thu Tuyen (T.T.) To and Adrienne Wheeler!  T.T. recently rejoined NEDAP's staff as Program Assistant, serving as a paralegal to NEDAP's consumer justice project and GIS/mapper and grants administrator.  (You might remember T.T. from when she worked at NEDAP from 2000-2002.)  Adrienne joined NEDAP's staff in February as office manager.
