NEDAP partners with Catholic Charities to present a series of workshops on predatory lending and foreclosure prevention at churches throughout Brooklyn and Queens on February 24.  The first workshops were held at St. Catherine of Sienna in St. Albans, Queens, and St. Fortunata in East New York, Brooklyn.

New Yorkers for Responsible Lending Unveils 2007 Platform.  On March 1, NEDAP participated in a press event in Albany to unveil the platform of New Yorkers for Responsible Lending, a statewide coalition of 129 consumer and community groups. This year, in addition to continuing its campaign against mortgage lending and real estate abuses, NYRL has identified abusive debt collection practices, tax refund anticipation loans, and fair access to property and casualty insurance as among its priority issues. NEDAP is a founding member of NYRL and serves on its Steering Committee.

NEDAP releases new report on tax refund anticipation lending (RALs) in NYC. On January 29. NEDAP released a report, "Predatory Tax-Time Loans Strip $324 Million from New York City's Poorest Neighborhoods."  NEDAP's report shows that New York City's lowest income neighborhoods each lost as much as $8.5 million to RALs over a four year period, from 2002 through 2005. The report, based on IRS data, calls on banking regulators to crack down on abusive RALs. NEDAP Joins with Allies to Call on Jackson Hewitt to End Abusive Lending Practices. On January 16, NEDAP rallied alongside allies from the California Reinvestment Coalition, Community Reinvestment Association of North Carolina (CRA-NC), New Jersey Citizen Action and Woodstock Institute.  The groups demanded that the country's second largest tax preparation chain cease making predatory tax refund anticipation and holiday/pay stub loans. Standing in front of the company's Parsippany, NJ headquarters, the groups invited company President & CEO Michael Lister to sign a giant 'rapid refund' check in the amount of $74.5 million -- the amount low-income families paid for high-cost loans the company sold them in 2006.
