Coalitions and Campaigns

New Yorkers for Responsible Lending

New Yorkers for Responsible Lending (NYRL) is a state-wide coalition that promotes access to fair and affordable financial services and the preservation of assets for all New Yorkers and their communities. NYRL is committed to fighting predatory practices in the financial services industry through policy reform, education and outreach, research and direct services.

Immigrant Financial Justice Project

The Immigrant Financial Justice Project works with community-based organizations to promote the rights of undocumented immigrants in the financial services system, and expose predatory practices that target immigrants for overpriced and abusive credit. NEDAP convenes a working group of New York community organizations to press for policy reforms in the financial services realm that remove access barriers for undocumented immigrants and eradicate abusive credit practices leveled at all low income immigrants.

Community Equity Protection Project

The Community Equity Protection Project aims to end predatory mortgage lending in the New York City area.  NEDAP, in partnership with the Foreclosure Prevention Project at South Brooklyn Legal Services, takes a multifaceted approach to identify, redress and prevent predatory mortgage lending abuses. The Project provides aggrieved homeowners with vital legal and social services assistance; works closely with responsible lenders to restructure predatory loans through a unique loan remediation program; conducts education and outreach to raise public awareness; and presses for broad policy reform. The collaboration serves as a replicable model for advocates in communities nationwide.

Current Campaigns

NEDAP coordinates campaigns around developments in the financial justice arena, including mergers and regulatory proposals.
