NEDAP's community education programs provide a unique combination of personal financial education and broader financial justice concepts. Our trainings are specifically tailored to community based organizations, including those serving youth, women, seniors, and immigrants.
We conduct one-time trainings and longer series of workshops. Trainings are provided on a sliding scale basis, and NEDAP works hard to make this information accessible and affordable to community groups.
Both our trainings and curriculum promote understanding of how the financial services system is structured and its implications for individuals and communities. The trainings and curriculum emphasize people's rights and ways to avoid fringe and predatory banking services that predominate in lower income communities and neighborhoods of color.
NEDAP's Community Financial Literacy and Justice Curriculum seeks to help people gain control over their financial lives. It introduces the benefits of having a bank or credit union account; how to create a budget and establish savings and spending goals; and ultimately how to build assets for oneself, one's family, and one's community.
