Research
NEDAP conducts policy, legislative and corporate research for community groups in New York City, using data from many sources, including the Census, the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, and other financial data.
NEDAP can help groups with:
- Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) research
- Census research
- Freedom of Information Act requests in support of community organizing
- Community surveying
- Assistance in interpreting laws and regulations in the financial arena.
Our research support and technical assistance ranges from long-term research in support of ongoing organizing, to answering discrete questions. Community groups can contact NEDAP by phone at (212) 680-5100, or via email, with questions regarding organizing assistance, community or staff trainings, or research. NEDAP also maintains a page with links
to online data and research resources, including state and federal regulator websites, as well as information on fair lending laws.
Individuals and groups requesting assistance from the NYC Financial Justice Hotline should visit the webpage or contact (212) 925-4929. Please note, the Hotline works on non-mortgage related questions, such as discriminatory banking and credit practices, credit reporting or repair, debt collections, access to bank accounts, fringe banking services, and EBT.
